The following recipes are ones we came up with, now some of them maybe based on commercial brewers who didn't want to be in the book or some of them may not be! :-) You'll have to brew a few and see if you can spot any similarities to a particular ale (but we will never tell).

How did we get the names is a question is something I have been asked many times, some of the names were just "because" or make reference to Wales' mining past but others were named after specific places or people. These are shown in bold below.

COLLIER BITTER - named after the Colliers Arms pub, why? Because it was a favorite of my grandads.

Borve - Brewing here was suspended during the summer of 2001
Maclay & Co - brewery closed. Draught ales now brewed by Forth Ales and bottled ales are brewed at Belhaven.
Tomintoul - was taken over in 2000 by Aviemore.
Castle Eden - taken over by Camerons in 2002
Malton Brewery - closed 2004. Ales are brewed under contract by Hambleton & Brown Cow
Marston Moor - taken over by Rudgate brwery
Mansfield Brewery - taken over by Wolverhampton & Dudley
Poole Brewery - became the Brewhouse and production believed to have ceased early 2000's
Ushers - brewery closed and beers now brewed under contract by Wychwood for UK Refresh
Flowers - bought up by Interbrew - need I say more:-(
Mildmay - believed to have closed sometime in 1999
